PostPosted: Thu Oct 19, 2017 7:58 am    Post subject: Unable to load program guide in RTV Reply with quote

I had to swap out a Replay because I think it stopped getting video input from both IN1 and IN2 jacks (I'm going to check on it in more detail.

I swapped in a spare unit. It took a while for it to get a verified network connection, but once that happened, I was able to define the inputs and other "Network and Input Settings".

Then I added the Replay to WiRNS. It's entry looks like the others. Then I did a net connect (several times).

It takes a long time for the full EPG to load (over 20 minutes), so I assume the data is being sent. It seems to go well, but the Replay's Channel Guide is empty. All the channels are listed, but no shows appear. I ran "Clear Channel Guide" twice a few times too.

I ran a net connect on another Replay on the same WiRNS, and compared the logs from each one (see below) They seem identical (except the existing RTV loaded fewer days).

On the WiRNS side, I've restarted it, reloaded the program guide from Schedules Direct (followed by restarts). Nothing works.

Does anybody know what's wrong?

Thanks in advance,
Dan

In Wirns,
Make sure the 'new' replay is in the Replay Configuration AND that you have assigned a lineup for it.

Your log seems to be missing something. Mine has the following before the AuthCtrl lines:

Make sure your Replay's clock is being set properly. Replay clock that's wrong will make the channel guide look blank (the guide data is for a different time than what the Replay thinks is "now").

cliffcor & mlloyd. Thanks for the replies.

First, my log file also had the same 5 proxying messages before the AuthCtrl lines, and the clock is correct. The channel guide screen displays date and time.

The Replay is in the configuration. I had selected the "Scan for Replays" button and it entered the replay automatically.

However, I have two different guides defined in Schedules Direct, and both of them were added to this Replay's configuration. I tried removing the one that doesn't apply, but when I do, I get this message: "Processing Replay modification, please wait..."

But the Replays screen doesn't come back. When I click on the menu option, the second lineup is still there. I've left it alone for up to 30 minutes, but it doesn't accept the change.

Any ideas?

I deleted the configuration that WiRNS built and entered it manually with just one lineup, and now the Replay has it's program guide.

But one problem remains. The cable box isn't changing channels correctly via the IR-Blaster. I see the numbers on the display, but then it's as if the <Jump> button is being pressed instead of <Enter>. The cable box only cycles between the last 2 channels it was tuned to.

I know it is set up correctly because the other Replay is connected to an identical cable box, and it works fine.

I got this Replay from someone else and I don't think I've used it before now. Is it possible that it is set up to send commands via the IR-Blaster that is different than the other Replay? Does Replay have a screen that configures how commands are sent to the cable box via the IR-Blaster? I've searched through all the menus but I can't find it.

Thanks again!
Dan

Good you got the guide, now for the blaster.

Couple things may be going on. Perhaps the other owner has a custom IR configuration. Often that is loaded as code 1000.

When you are in your network & inputs, go to the setting that your working Replay is using. When the code is displayed, press the Zones 543 to get into fine tuning of the codes. See what set up on your working replay.
Now do the same thing on the incorrect replay. Set as the same, and save, save until you are out of the menus.

If they are the same, and still have issues, then the new box (or perhaps your working box) has a custom code.

Hi Cliff,

That did it. The new Replay had the "Send Enter" field set to "Yes", and the old one was "No".

Now both Replays are working correctly.

I knew Replay had that screen, but I had forgotten that it is an xxx-Zones access. It's great that you're on this forum, giving quick and excellent help.

Thanks so much,
Dan

Happy all is well!
I'm just a user who has trial and error things many times before! Replay/Wirns has a lot of little 'gotchas' that we've discovered over time fighting this or that until something clicks.
Thanks for the kind words!

As to the custom IR code, whenever I get a used Replay I put my own software image (with zones and local settings on it). That helps avoid setup problems.

Many of the Replays will require a new hard drive too.
