I'm hoping someone can help. I had some kind of computer glitch today, and for whatever reason, the shortcuts I had to start each DVA instance disappeared from my desktop. Yikes. When updating Java, I've had the shortcuts become non-functional until I updated them, but that was just editing existing shortcuts and not creating them from scratch.

So, can anyone remind me of how to create shortcuts for multiple DVA instances? I remember I needed to change either the "Target" or "Start In" property, but I don't remember which. My hope is that if I can get that done, I'll remember what I need to do within DVA to get things back to working.

TIA,
Saundra

Never mind . . . I found a note I'd made, and the answer to my question is that the changes need to be made in the "Target" line. Whew. Now, I think it's just a matter of copying that shortcut for each instance & changing the "store" for each. Then, once I start each DVA instance, I think I just have to change the IP address, serial number, and UUID for each. Fortunately, I'd made notes on those changes -- sometimes, being a little OCD pays off

Although the DVArchive Forum has been LOCKed for a few years now, all of the archived messages are still readable.

Thanks! I had searched the DVArchive forum, but didn't find the above, which would have answered what had me initially stumped! I found a fair number of posts where the syntax was listed, but they didn't specify whether to put it in the Target or Start In property, and your link verified that it's Target and that Start In isn't really used.

FWIW, once I got that figured out, it was very simple to get everything A-OK again since all the xml files still existed -- I didn't have to do anything in the individual instances of DVA since everything was in the individual xml files

I still have absolutely no idea what caused the glitch that deleted my DVA shortcuts, but it was a good refresher course for me -- thanks!
