I have 8 active units and 6 backup units. I've added 12 so far, but am having trouble adding the last 2. Is there a limit in Wirns?

No there's no limit. However, there are only 11 different icon colors to choose from...

Wirns did finally recognize one of the last 2 units.

However, I have discovered that the last unit has missing Menu options - there is no "Internet ID and Address Book" tab and no "Default Playback" option. Also, when I look at "System Information" there is no Video Sharing tab.

Wirns does not recognize this unit. I did a factory reset, but the options are still missing.

Any suggestions?

It takes a proper net connect to get those options enabled. Your choices are to allow the unit to net connect to DNNA and then change it to WiRNS, to put the commands to enable those features into your shellcmds file by copying them from shellcmds.example, or, if you are running WiRNS 2, you can create a shellcmds.ignore file as documented here...

I was just making a log of all my units and discovered that this is a 5504 model! I bought it for $20 just for the hard drive and never connected it before now (it was a monthly).

I think I've read that there is a way to enable CA and IVS? I'm running Wirns 3.0.

Henry, per your suggestion I connected via DNNA and got a channel guide. When I try to connect via Wirns, it hangs on Setting the Clock...all my other units can connect without problems.

Any suggestions?

Hanging on setting clock usually means that there's a problem with the time server in WiRNS. What did the WiRNS log show while the unit was net conecting?

The net connect that hangs up is after I try to change the zip code so that I can choose the Wirns schecule lineup. So I haven't been able to get the Wirns linup yet.

After multiple tries, Wirns did discover the unit (.75) and lists it w/o a port or IVS # (since it is a 5504)

Here's the log:

I can see that the RTV requested the time server, but there's no log that WiRNS received a time request. You need to check if something happened to your WiRNS setup since you had it working. Start with running "netstat -anb" to make sure that you have wirn.exe having a UDP listen for 192.186.1.130:123...

I'm not sure what you are asking me to do - I took a gamble that I might have a clue and I opened a Cmd window (with admin priv) and typed in netstat -anb and got a big list of stuff. I noticed a UDP 192.168.1.130:123 Wirns.exe and it had *:* next to it.

FWIW, here's the log from a net connect I just ran on another unit (.53)

That's very strange because that one's also missing the time set log. In addition, it's missing the time verfication which should look like:

Code:
[PLUGIN] AuthCtrl Processing Time Verification

It's almost like the RTVs are going somewhere else for the time instead of going to WiRNS. And, that only causes an error when you do something like try to setup a factory reset unit or changes ZIP codes. Basically, your current net connects for at least that other unit isn't setting the clock on the RTV, but it also doesn't cause an error...

However, I have no explanation of how the RTV is being told to ask WiRNS for the time, but then it's apparently not asking WiRNS...

Maybe you should try Updating WiRNS and see if thing work any differently...

Also, maybe you should try turning off Windows firewall for a moment while you try a net connect to see if you get any NTP activity in WiRNS...

Henry

I updated Wirns, ran a net connect for the 5504 unit - success! Now I'll have to find out how to get CA and IVS installed. Somehow I thought that Wirns 3.0 provided that?

Also ran another net connect for .53 unit - is this what I'm supposed to have if Wirns is supplying the clock?
