I am using Wirns 3.0 and Schedulesdirect. I have two RTV 5040 units, basement (10.0.1.199) and family room (10.0.1.198). Basement appears to be receiving the updated guide data fine - I can scroll through all the channels and programming. Family room guide is blank. I've tried manual netconnects, I've verified that the Gateway IP and both DNS IP addresses are correct (both DNS point to 10.0.1.14 which is the Wirns server IP)

I also tried manually connecting to the ReplayTV service from the RTV unit. And I initiated a netconnect from wirns (saw the TV screen display 243 and the RTV menu appear so at least I know the Wirns server is talking to the RTV unit). However, in the debug statement in the log file it says it can't find the unit - here is the full log:

I split out your post as your hijacking that other thread was not very helpful. The debug log you are receiving is due to that serial number not being configured in WiRNS. Check your Replay configuration page...

Hi Henry,

Sorry about 'hijacking' the other thread. I thought I was having the same issue and was doing the right thing by combining, now I know better! I'm new to the forums and learning the etiquette.

I appreciate your response - so I need to open the Wirns configuration and make sure the RTV's serial number is entered there?

The RTV serial number is appearing correctly on the RTV unit (RTV5040C4DR0142073) - and it matches what's entered in Wirns. Still no channel guide on this unit. (name is Family Room, ISN 00004-54831-88425, IP 10.0.1.199)

I also tried rebooting wirns, rebooting the RTV, unplugging for 15 seconds all connections to the RTV and refreshing the channel guide in Wirns then doing another netconnect. One difference is that when I guide to the RTV recorded shows guide I'm seeing a Service Activation message stating "After the announced shutdown of the ReplayTV programming guide service...have decided to continue the electronic programming guide service pursuant to the terms of your service activation agreement..."

I also notice that if I view the channel guide through Wirns, under the first column labeled "Replay" I can see the RTV unit 'Basement' (this is the unit that seems to be working fine with Wirns/schedulesdirect). I don't see the other listed.

Regardless, I still have no channel guide on the one unit. Any thoughts on what else to try?

Here's partial log file for the last netconnect:

I would try deleting the problem RTV from WiRNS and then scan for Replays to get it re-added...

Ok, I deleted, rescanned and found the RTV, and did a netconnect. Still no guide on the RTV but now on the Wirns channel guide the 'Family room' unit is also listed. Here's the log on the netconnect:

You didn't select the WiRNS: lineup on that RTV...

Ok, I'm sure you're frustrated with me already but where do I set that and what line in the log gave it away? The other RTV is working great so I know I'm close! And playing around with Wins, I'm really impressed - nice work.

I changed my zip code to 00000, saw the "Connecting to Replay TV Service" screen, then got an "Unexpected result code. (84420005)"

Below this the options are "Try connecting again..." or go back to zip code.

I went from everything working fine using WiRNS to now not working at all. The Guide Data won't load to the Replays from WiRNS.

Wow. Now I am trying to reconnect back to the 'mother-ship'. I finally got the guide data that way from DNNA for one of my Replays. I have another Replay stuck at the Quick Set up Screen. Arrggh!

Did the reconsideration of DNNA cause some weird stuff to be set in the ReplayTV's?

Please try a real ZIP code, 00000 is not a valid ZIP code.

I used a real zip the first time through, then tried '00000' as a test. I then switched everything back to point at DNNA and that worked fine. I tried again this morning putting it back to Wirns by changing both DNS IPs to the Wirns server then saving and then changing the zip to a real zip that I haven't tried yet but still got the same message. For now I'm switched back to DNNA but I'd really like to figure out how to get Wirns since it offers a lot more.

Thanks
Brian

You need to post more details about what's going on. Like, is it saying setting clock or setting time zone when it gets the error? Is there anything in the WiRNS log or debug.log?

I would make sure to Update WiRNS to make sure I had all the latest fixes. Then I would check that I had the Time Zone set by choosing a different Time Zone and then choosing the correct Time Zone and Updating...

Regardless, I still have no channel guide on the one unit.

I am having the same problem. I have 4 Replays. All but one is showing Guide Data.

I am running WiRNS 3.0 on a dedicated Windows XP machine.

I did a manual Net Connect. It shows that it's updating and says all the usual stuff like setting clock and setting time zone but then I get the mesage on the TV screen that no guide data is available.

I did a re-boot on the machine. Both manual (on the Replay itself) and from the WiRNS Configuration.

I deleted, rescanned and found the RTV, and did a netconnect. Still no guide on the RTV.

I unplugged the ethernet cable and re-plugged it.

I've changed the zip code on the unit and made sure it's using the WiRNS lineup and saved all changes.

I updated WiRNS.

What am I missing? I've done a search about this topic and can't find the answer.

I am happy to post my logfile, if necessary.

Thanks.

Be sure you have a lineup selected for that replay in WiRNS.

I'm having the same problem on my 45xx - my 5000 is working fine and previous to this weekend it had been working great on both. I believe it is a clock issue as it seems to hang for minutes on "setting clock" and the guide's time has the wrong time with no listings listed.

If it's hanging on "setting clock" then it isn't able to get the time from WiRNS. Check your WiRNS log during the net connect to see if WiRNS is being requested to set the time for that unit...

Success! I executed the tried and true method of clearing my channel guide (using 2-4-3 Zones) TWICE. Then did a net connect and the guide loaded up.

I revisited my 45xx that had no program guide data (even after having worked flawlessly with wirns for a few weeks) and got the message from DNNA that they were still providing guide data service. I checked my settings and wirns is the cable provider so where did this dnna notice come from? BTW, my data guide is back up now somehow. Hmmm I don't get it.

Are you using WiRNS 2 or WiRNS 3? If you're using WiRNs 3, the only way this should be able to happen is if your 4500 has its DNS setting back to something normal, like that it is using an automatic/DHCP address again, or if it's still using a static/manual address, but the DNS is set back to something other than the WiRNs IP address...
