hello, i have a panasonic showstopper 2000. just recently the picture just locked up. turned the unit off and on several times and then unplugged the unit and when i turned the unit back on the frozen picture is still there and i won't let me do anything. i am thinking it is the hard drive. Does anyone else have any ideas as what the problem could be?

thanks

tim

Try leaving it unplugged with all the wires disconnected over night and then try hooking it back up and plugging it back in...

It's a little strange that I think you are saying that when you turn the unit back on after all this, that it comes back up that it goes back to displaying the same frozen picture. Because, when it boots up fresh, it should come up to the swirl screen. Although, sometimes when it boots up it goes into live buffering, so I'm not sure exactly what you are seeing, if it is going through the please wait and so on up to the menu screen and then you see it selecting a channel number and that's when the same frozen picture comes up?

A real good person to discuss this with is Mikeyboy. He might be able to give you some better ideas...

In addition, I guess if you want to try a different hard drive to see if it makes a difference or not, that's certainly another way to go...

Henry,
no, I don't get think the screen that says please wait came up.. its like the entire unit is frozen. it wouldn't let me do anything. it has been awhile since this happened so i bought another replay unit.. now i am wanting to find out what is wrong.

That sounds really, really strange! The first thing that happens when you plug in power is that the SS has to boot up, and it displays the please wait screen while it is booting. So, I don't know how it would be possible for it to display some frozen screen before it has even booted!
