It looks like the DCT700 is the box I'll get when I sign up for digital cable. Anyone successful getting one of these to work? I hope so--I'd like to stick with the Replay as my DVR.

I haven't done the digital cable thing yet so I don't know. I've done some searching and it seems other Motorola boxes work, but I've seen one person having trouble with the DCT700. I find no record of anyone getting one to work with a Replay. Maybe I'll end up being one of the guinea pigs...

I recently exchanged my old cable boxes for the new DCT-700 model. I have 2 RTVs and I continued to use the code listed in the setup for Motorola cable boxes. Everything has worked fine.

BTW, I have used the Motorola code in the RTV setup for all my previous digital cable boxes regardless of the manufacturer.javascript:emoticon('')

I'm now the proud owner of a DCT-700 (for a couple of days until I can exchange it for a DCT-2000). Anyone have the code for this bad boy? I too can't find one that works.

When I first created this thread, I ended up getting an older DCT2400 (or something like that) and I'm able to use it with my Replay and Comcast cable. I'm getting another replay and cable box, and was wondering if anyone has gotten any codes to work for the DCT700. I'm just wondering if I need to avoid this model. I'd rather not, though, since I could use its small size.

Thanks for any feedback.

I could not get it to work but it has to be similar. Someone I think on AVS Forum stated they got it to work but had to set it to NOT send enter after sending the digits.

I wanted Dolby Digital and S-Video outputs so I traded for a DCT-2500. Stupid Comcast only has DCT-2500s with Dolby Digital (no S-Video) so I got half of what I wanted!

Anyhow, the DCT-700 size is great and the picture is phenomenal from it. I never messed with it much and I couldn't find the IR receiver on it the little I did mess with it.

Let me know if you get it to work as I may ultimately get another one for a different set in the future...

I will certainly post anything I find if it gets to that point. It's disappointing that I've been unable to find solid evidence of anyone getting this box to work!

I have the DCT700, and I have it working like a charm. I followed the instructions from http://www.digitalnetworksna.com/support/replaytv/document.asp?docID=228 at replaytv.com, which I have modified slightly here because on their website, the instructions aren't exactly what you should do (e.g., a menu choice had the wrong name):

Question:
My ReplayTV is sending each digit 3 times (e.g., 222000666) when it tries to change channels on my Motorola or General Instruments cable box.

Answer:
This can be fixed easily.

Please follow these instructions:

Turn off your cable box.

On your ReplayTV remote, press the Menu button.
Select "Setup".
Select "Network and Input settings".
Select the input that you have your cable box assigned to.
Select "Digital Cable Box".
Select your cable lineup.

If you have a ReplayTV 4000 or later, you'll first see a list for General Instruments, Motorola, and Other. Choose Other.

Select "Continue" on the "IR Blaster" page.

Then, you'll see the complete list of Cable box brands.

Select "Motorola" from the "Cable Box Brand" page.

Select "0476" (DO NOT SELECT 4476) and press the ">" (right cursor button) to test the cable box. The power should go on if the cable box was off.

At this point you should be able to select the "Select" button and then
"Keep all settings".

This should flush the code "4476" (or any previous code) out and you should be up and running.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let me know if this works for you!

By the way, it's funny that I saw this thread tonight because I've had this box working since December or so, and the only reason I found this thread was because I mucked something up tonight and the IR blaster stopped working, so I was searching for how to fix it (which I knew existed because I had done it before). This thread was the first thing I found. After a couple of hours (during which I was also watching TV), I finally found the page on replaytv.com, so I figured I'd post it here.

After much struggle, thanks to one of the posters below I went through the General Instruments codes for this, and I found that Remote IR Code 083 (usually listed under General Instruments) works, at least on Comcast Cable's flavor of the Motorola DCT700 cable / set-top box.

Note that this is the code that's displayed by my Samsung TV via the TV-Guide OnScreen setup; I didn't encounter any "0476" code available as indicated in the aforementioned Replay setup instructions.

I also saw someone on another forum saying that code "00093-C" worked, but I see any IR code even remotely resembling that. There are a good 10 General Instruments codes that I had to run through, but in the end, 083 did the trick.

Hope this helps someone somewhere...

Love the forums. Just got a DCT-700 and was having difficulty getting to work with my ReplayTV. Followed advice on using "Other" "motorola" "0476" and all was good. Sigh.

Thanks.

Thanks all. I just moved from Dish to Comcast for my TV (already an Internet subscriber) and this thread kept me from pulling my hair out.

Esp to xivaro...you call saved me from becoming bald this evening, per a previous comment.

There will likely be a lot of activity looking for this thread, as Comcast in Chicago (perhaps elsewhere too) is kicking analog cable to the curb as of April 10, 2007. And thanks for the huge advance notice, Comcast -- a whole 2 weeks!

Anyway, the tiny set-top converters they're pushing out to thousands is the DCT700. My Replay kept auto-selecting code "4476" which was sending each digit 3x. Changing to "0476" per Xivaro's detailed instructions fixed the problem right away.

I joined just to say thanks!

hi everyone,

i read some of your posts. i am still having problems getting my replay tv to change my cable channels based upon the Ir blaster codes given. i tried 0476, 0810, 0276, 4476, and a bunch of others. basically, my replay tv downloads the channel guide fine, but when it comes to changing the channel, it can't do it. the same cable channel comes through. my cable remote changes the channels only. i don't know what to do about these IR blaster codes, or if is another problem all together.

PLEASE HELP!!

If it were me, I'd try http://www.remotecentral.com/ to see if I could find if there is a model listed in the Replay's DB with the same or nearly the same codeset that you could use instead.

I just got a Motorola DCT3416 yesterday. The default (4476) did not allow me to change channels. I just switched it to 0476 as recommended, and it's now working perfectly.

I'm having the exact same problem as described here and I've followed the fix as instructed at the ReplayTV site as well as the modified fix described by xivaro and I can't get anything to work.

I have a 5508 and the cable box is a Motorola QIP2500-3 courtesy of Verizon and FiOS.

Anybody out there have a fix for this box?

Hi Tucker,
I have a ReplayTV 5040 and just switched to Verizon FiOS. I have the QIP2500-3 and just tried the fix last night (picking "other" and putting in the code 0476 instead of 4476). It fixed the problem for me.
It seems like when you did it on yours it didn't "take". Maybe try again, reboot, etc?

I used XIVARO's suggestion and chose 0476 as the IR code and it's working like a charm! Thanks! I couldn't get my remote to change the channels before.

Anyone has a working IR code? I have a Replay 5040 (which was upgraded to a 5080 when I sent it for repair). I can't get it to recognize my DCT700 cable box. BTW, i'm using the IR Blaster from the Pace DC50X because I have lost the one supplied by Replay. Does that make a difference?

Should I be using this:

or this?:

The IR cable in the PACE box is not going to work. It is a "microphone" and you want a "speaker". It receives IR signals and sends them to the box. You want a cable that takes signals from the box and sends out IR signals.

It looks like either of the choices in your links will do the job.

Thanks pdellera! I

I ordered one from eBay. $10 for 2 shipped.

I thought ReplayTV manual said that this was included in the box but I don't think it ever was. Instead they have a serial cable.

It is supposed to include BOTH IR blaster and serial cable in the box. If it was missing, then that sounds like a packaging mistake. Or, you lost it somehow...
