ReplayTV tools are a collection of command line utilities to work with MPEG-2 streams for the ReplayTV 5000/5500 series Personal Video Recorder. This document also refers to another third party software package called "DVArchive" which is a Java based application for downloading video from a ReplayTV and streaming video back to one (along other things).

These tools will allow you to do the following:

* Edit downloaded shows without reencoding; stream them with DVArchive

* Convert RTV files for use with DVD Authoring

* Convert RTV4K MPEGs for streaming to a RTV5K

* Convert MPEG-2 streams and stream to a RTV5K with DVArchive

This looks like a great program set.

Is there any work going into making a gui for this.

Or is this to remain command line only.

Also I want to know if i have this right

I can use these programs to edit reply shows and the shows would be compatible enough to stream back to the replay via DVArchive.

Also I could take a non replay video and make it into a replay video with needed files for streaming with DVArchive.

If this is correct I will deffinetly have to look into memorizing the commands for these programs or writing my own gui.

I am brand new at this, but I've been collecting free software to burn movies to DVD. I found this on the AVS forum. It may be what you're looking for, but I haven't tried it yet.

I'm glad to see by all of the posts on this board and AVS that I'm not the only one that has gotten a little confused about exactly how to get from RTV to DVD.
