I can connect and it downloads the channel names and numbers, but no guide data.
I noticed the clock says 11/12/1999
I'm guessing it is not setting the clock and that is why I get no guide data.
How do I fix this?
Thanks |

Normally, the clock is the first thing set on a netconnect.
Have you tried a manual connect via the 243-ZONES menu?
When you do, you can watch the status messages at the bottom of the screen.
Of late, there have been other reports of odd behavior by RTVs attempting to connect (see the posts in the 5k forum here and over at AVSForum). It is possible that your issue might be related.
Unless you have the "manual timeset" image installed on your ShowStopper, there's not much that you can do besides try different dial in numbers (preferably out of your local area so that you are dialing into a different POP), and a factory reset (I doubt that will help you though). _________________ Still no news from New Zealand.

I used the 243 zones and did a 777 zones and neither worked.
I turned the clock display on and did a 243 zones and the clock statys at 11/12/1999
It says setting clock, but it does not, or the unit is not taking the data.
The guide data does not download I think because the date is wrong.
I'm going to call them and see if they are having trouble.
Let me know if you come up with anything.

I doubt it will fix the problem, but if you still want the manual timeset image for the standalone showstopper, you can download it from here:
http://serenity.rgb.cc:2866/replaytv/images/panasonic/
You can find installation directions and software to install the image at:

|

I loaded the manual time set image and set the time manually.
I then did a 243 zones and net connect
It downloads the guide data.
Any idea why my clock will not set from the server ?
I'm using a phone line to connect and everything else looks fine.
I called panasonic and they said that the clock not setting is a major issue, but they did not say how it is fixed.
Is the time stored in an eeprom ?
Why does it allow the time to be set manually, but not by the server ?
It seems strange.
Thanks for the help

All replaytv's connect to the same server(s) for guide data.
The older Stutter board units (2k, 3k, SS) along with any of the newer Ethernet enabled units using a dial-up connection are just simply dialing into an ISP's POP just the same way as any dial up computer would. If the time isn't being set on a connect, then it's possible that something at the ISP's POP is blocking the port - hence why I suggested dialing into a different number, preferably a significant geographical distance away.
The system eeprom only stores the serial number of the unit and some bootstrap loader parameters. The time is stored in a clockchipset that is powered by a capacitor when the unit is unplugged. The capacitor does eventually "wear out" and this will cause the unit to loose it's time whenever it is unplugged for any significant period. If you are looking to replace the capacitor, contact Mike Menard at www.replaytvparts.com and he can sell you the component and provide soldering directions, or you can ship the unit to him for repair.
As for the manual timeset image; this is not an officially supported image. It's a user community hack created by flipflop and a few others where they were able to replace the credits panel with a timeset panel and the appropriate system calls.
Keep an eye on your clock, as some units (like my RTV2004) seem to suffer from a horrible clock drift and it's unlikely that your SS will be able to go for more than a few days without needing a time correction. _________________ Still no news from New Zealand.

Interesting, your clock problem might not be at the ISP. Someone else aparently had a similiar problem with his 5k.

The problem does not seem to be consistant though. As it appears that only some RTVs are affected. _________________ Still no news from New Zealand.
