Actually, the exact path is WiRNS, GUIDE DATA, then you can select Force next call. The direct URL is http://SERVER/manage/ConfigureDataDirect where SERVER is the IP address of your WiRNS.

Two problems - obviously secondary to getting this stuff working by the end of the month:
1) Hard to figure out the meaning of the undocumented fields. "Next Call Time" vs "Next call start time" vs. Scheduled netconnect..... Would be great if an expert would look at that page from the perspective of the 3K users. Excuse my impatience if this is being added to Glenn's wiki.

2) As I previously mentioned, multiple 3K owners would benefit if they could schedule each 3K to dial at a different time. That way there would be a better chance of call completion (call 2 not stomping on call 1 failing both). Apologies again if this has been covered.

Regards, Jon

First, Scheduled NetConnect is for network connected RTVs only, not dial-up units. It is the same as pressing the "Net Connect" button that shows next to each networked RTV on the Replay configuration page (it also might cause a reboot, I can't remember)...

Next Call Start Time versus Next Call Time, Next Call Start Time is how long to wait after the Guide update to schedule the net connects and Next Call Start Time is specifically what time to schedule the net connects. So, the default Next Call Start Time of 45 minutes is to schedule the net connects 45 minutes after the Guide update. Whereas whatever time you enter for the Next Call Time and check mark Force Next Call Time, that is the time the net connects will be scheduled...

Each configured RTV unit is automatically given a different net connect time regardless of which configuration is use. The configuration only sets the initial net connect schedule time. Unconfigured RTV units get a net connect time which is after all the configured units. So, if you want the units scheduled with different net connect times, be sure they are configured in WiRNS...

With my one unit in test, I'm seeing connect times up to an hour - for example

Jul 5 01:09:01 - pppd[4879]: Using interface ppp0
Jul 5 01:09:05 - pppd[4879]: found eth0 for proxy arp
Jul 5 02:03:29 - pppd[4879]: CCP terminated by peer
Jul 5 02:03:29 - pppd[4879]: LCP terminated by peer
Jul 5 02:03:32 - pppd[4879]: Connect time 54.5 minutes.
Jul 5 02:03:32 - pppd[4879]: Sent 3176183 bytes, received 152484 bytes.
Jul 5 02:03:32 - pppd[4879]: Exit.

It would be nice if we could set the different net connect time spacing as we learn how long each R3K needs in each of our specific environments.

Thanks, Jon

Doesn't look very trivial! I think I'll have to wait and see how it goes...

I'm not able to see the Channel Guide on the WiRNS console or download the schedule to my Replay 3xxx unless I set the Replay Type in WiRNS to a 4xxx or 5xxx model. Can some one point me in the right direction to correct this.

Not sure how the RTV model type would have anything to do with viewing the ChannelGuide. When you set the RTV model type for your configured unit to the appropriate 3K setting, what happens when you go into the WiRNS ChannelGuide?

The "Replay:" box is empty and when I hit jump I see the time across the top of the screen, but not schedule.

I have to assume that you have something else misconfigured about your RTV unit other than the model type...

I'm still not sure what you're saying about the ChannelGuide presentation. I guess it depnds on why type of guide data you have selected. If you have the second pull down after Replay: set to "All Channels", then it should show you the complete channel guide listing regardless of having any RTVs configured...

Oh, wait a minute! If WiRNS doesn't think that you have any RTVs configured, then it can't figure out the channel numbers to show you the ChannelGuide!

So, you need to check your configuration very carefully. The model number shouldn't be the issue. Checking that you have it enabled and have a lineup chosen for that RTV should allow WiRNS to show it in the Replay: menu, and allow you to view the channel guide for that RTV's lineup...

I'm seeing this same problem, with a PV-HS2000. I know that the Replay and the channel guide data are configured correctly, since I'm able to get the channel guide data to download to the Replay and it displays perfectly on the TV (which is maybe the most important part), but it won't appear in the WiRNS "Channel Guide". I'm running WiRNS as a service on XP Home (admin account), if that makes a difference, and IE7 is the browser.

Sounds like where I was on June 29th . Did you check the log after a net connect for something like:

[6/29/2011 03:02:48] LoginAuthLogout.UpdateDB(): Didn't find
Replay: PV-HS1000E0RA52087

I had to paste the serial numbers into my R3K configurations, might have had to do another net connect (see my post on previous page).

Yep, looked at the log, everything looks good (I've never seen a "didn't find replay" message -- I'd taken the serial number from 411-Zones and put it in during initial Replay setup, since I'd been reading about your problems and resolution about the time I was getting started ) As I mentioned, getting guide data to the Replay is working... it's just the WiRNS PC that's not displaying my Replay in the list (nor showing channel listings).

So, when you look at the index page, it doesn't show your PV-HS2000? What about when you look at your Replay configuration page?

When I go to the index page, I see my WiRNS entry, and I also see "ShowShopper 2000 N/A N, last net connect 7/6/2011 1:23:47 pm". I go to Configuration -> Replays, I see my ShowStopper 2000 in the list at the top. When I go to Tools -> Channel Guide (or Current Channel Guide), I see a Replay: "" (with a very narrow empty drop down list), "All Channels" default on the next drop down list, then date & time on the next two lists.

Just to pipe in with my experience, I deleted the WIRNS "configured replay" during the time I was flailing around trying to get things working.

Like you, I was receiving channel data (just proxied from "replay central") but no guide, todo list, etc.

So currently, my status page (.../manage/index) just shows my two configured replaytv's.

Question, when you click on the Replay: drop down box, do you see anything? If not, check your logs (current and archived) after a net connect for a line with "XactProvider", for example:

[7/6/2011 02:43:13] [PLUGIN] XactProvider refreshing RecordingGuide, 14 of 111GB available for: 192.168.3.4

when my replaytv was getting guide data, but I had no WiRNS channel or todo info, that line was missing from my net-connect sequence.

Interesting... I am indeed missing the "[7/6/2011 02:43:13] [PLUGIN] XactProvider refreshing RecordingGuide, 14 of 111GB available for: 192.168.3.4" line. The XactProvider.dll is loaded, though, according to the startup section of the log.

Before I delete the "WiRNS" entry, though, is there something else that might be causing this behavior? (or, am I supposed to delete the WiRNS entry, and just missed that in the various instructions and threads I've been following?)

First, you WiRNS log line should not look exactly the same as his, it would have the information specific to your 2000...

Second, you shouldn't need to delete anything to make it work differently...

If you could post two sections of your WiRNS log here. First, the net connect with the 2000, and second, any of the every-four-hour guide refresh sequences...

Absolutely. I have Scheduled Net Connect disabled, if that makes a difference. Note there's nothing in the debug log. (IP is a little different, as I was running FreeSCO on a different machine.)

Here's the net connect:

Yeah, it looks like WiRNS isn't getting the MyReplayTV data from your 2000. I'm not sure what it causing that. I suppose that it's possible that MyReplayTV isn't enabled on that unit. Do you remember ever registering for MyReplayTV?

Yep, I did (www.myreplaytv.com, right?)... but it was a LONG time ago (definitely before I updated the firmware to handle Comcast's DTA codes, and maybe even before I upgraded the harddrive to 160 GB). I only used it once or twice, though, and I may have even "unregistered" at some point in time. Is there a way to fix this? (preferably without having to pull the harddrive out?)

My log files are mirroring what amblinn is seeing. I too had a www.myreplaytv.com account, but rarely used it and probably never used it after upgrading to the larger hard drive.

OK, I posted and update which allows access to RTV units which have no guide information. So, try updating and see if you can't at least now access the ChannelGuide and such. I also added logging which indicates that the RTV unit has no guide information...

In addition, if y'all could try adding the following line to your shellcmds:

Code:
regedit setval SysConfig/Auth RegisteredMyReplayTV 1

And, see if that makes any difference on getting the XactProvider to get invoked. You may have to net connect twice with that shellcmds line (which you will need to leave in place if it works)...

The update worked to provide channel guide information, but the setval command did not activate the XactProvider. Logs to follow.

I'm seeing the same -- I can now get channel guide data through WiRNS, but none of my show recording information is there, and XactProvider is not activated, per the log.

But, my logs are a smidge different (if that helps):

WiRNS.debug.log

[7/7/2011 20:10:51] LoginAuthLogout.UpdateDB(): DB busy
[7/7/2011 21:22:49] PutXact: System.OverflowException: Value was either too large or too small for an Int32.

at WiRNS.XProvider.PutXact(String headers, Byte[] data, String remoteIP) in c:\CVS\WiRNS2\XactProvider\XProvider.cs:line 195

WiRNS log (note that I turned off the NoReplayZones plugin, and turned NoPhoneNumbers back on, which I'm still playing with, so no results there 'til tomorrow, and then I'll reply to the appropriate threads then):

I'm glad that worked for you, and I can see from your logs that there's no XactProvider guide from your unit. Can you please post the serial number you have configured for that unit?

I'm assuming that y'all have older units than my 3K unit that I'm testing with. It's possible that there's something different about those units, but I don't know what it would be. If one of y'all have the ability to run WireShark on the WiRNS computer while Net Connecting the RTV, that may be the only way for me to track it down...

Henry,
Thanks for working on this for us. I'll send the serial # tonight when I get home from work and set up a trace for you.
Thanks,
Todd

Henry, I echo Todd's thanks for working on this... I have a PV-HS2000, so it's definitely a different unit .

My serial number is PV-HS2000I0RA50117

The log for this morning (note: nothing showed up in debug log when I was running WireShark "for real" -- maybe because no guide data had really changed on the Replay?). I ran FreeSCO from 192.168.1.5; WiRNS is on 192.168.1.3.

That's really helpful, thanks! Unfortunately, I don't see anything unusual with your trace in regards to XactProvider (although, your channel guide download doesn't look all too good) to explain why WiRNS isn't picking it up. Can you PM me your email address so I could email you a debug version of XactProvider to see if I can track down why this is happening?

PM sent (sorry it took so long!). I've noticed the Channel Guide looks a little better when I run WiRNS and FreeSCO on the same machine (which has a 14.4 modem), but figured different machines might be easier for WireShark analysis.

Todd sent me his information, and his debug.log had an exception in it that probably explains the problem. Can you please double check very carefully that you also don't have a PutXact exception? It would really save me a lot of trouble of trying to debug your setup if it turns out that you are also getting the same exception...
