| Another thing I have noticed is several short records, like 37 minutes on a 1 hour or 24 minutes on a 30 minute. Anyone else notice this or having a similar problem? |

Sanjonny,
NA9D. Not NA9!
You might want to check how many shows are in your Replay guide for the Replay in question. Henry has determined that if you have more than 300 shows on the Replay, you can start to have problems like you describe. I too have seen this. If you keep your show count down, then it helps. But looking at your logs, it appears you just have around 200. But I do see you have about 183 ToDo entries on your Bedroom unit. Is that the one having problems? I wonder if the high number of ToDos is causing an issue? _________________ See my Poop! (5XXX)

Actually, I said over 100 shows, like over 120 is where I start to really see problems (sometimes less). People on AVSForum have posted around 140, but I think it is less...

I usually see two issues cause shows to stop recording partway through. First, it may be a tuner/signal issue. Does this always happen on a specific channel or handful of channels? The Replay tuners can be a bit flaky, and a signal that may look fine to us might conceivably cause the Replay to stop recording due to "no video signal".
A more likely reason is the Replay becoming overtaxed. In my experience it's usually from browsing/loading a remote Replay guide of >150-200 shows while recording. Do you frequently watch shows on a remote Replay?
I've split this thread, since we're now talking about something completely different from the JIT recording issue, and it (probably) has nothing to do with WiRNS. _________________ Psst, Got Poopli? Drink from the 2Mbps firehose!

Sorry, I will include the big D (don't most men love big D's) from now on.
This only started happening when I updated to the last update. I haven't updated to the newest updates because of the download issues.
It was not happening before. So I am thinking wirns is sending some ugly command or something along those lines that might be causing it to happen. Or perhaps wirns is sending two commands at once or something that it wasn't doing before.
As a side note, the Bedroom is a 4K unit and really seems not to ever have many problems, despite the high number of shows.
As far as tuner/signal issues, I completely agree as I had run into that happening in a previous house that I had, but this one has strong/Ideal signals on all the replay connected outlets. The Cox tech who installed the wiring has a replay and set them all up good. I have lived here for a year and not had this problem before, so I know it is something beside the tuner stuff most likely.
Also, I almost never watch shows on a remote replay. Instead I usually send them to the other replay in bulk and watch them locally. The first thought I had was that it could be happening when sending/downloading shows, but I have been reviewing records vs. intensive network stuff and have not yet found a significant correlation.
Is there any background wirns stuff that could be causing this. I generally now almost exclusively send and receive ivs from my wirns server and not from the replays. I download the shows to wirns and send them from there, etc.
Any thoughts? |
