Bob,
  1. Isn't this the exact feature that the "Time-Bomb" was supposed to effect?

  2. What is the "length of the fuse" on the "Time-Bomb"?

  3. What was the "expected result" supposed to be when the "Time-Bomb" went off?

  4. Is there any chance that the "Time-Bomb" somehow got activated / jiggled / sputtered on the machines that are currently experiencing this one particular problem?

  5. Is there any difference in the number of Users experiencing this problem between Win2K and WinXP Users? [I'm using Win2K Pro SP4]

  6. Is there any difference in the number of Users experiencing this problem between having all their ReplayTV-related APPS installed on ONE machine vs having them distributed across their LAN? [Mine are distributed]

  7. Besides making POSITIVELY sure that all of our clocks (both PC and ReplayTV) are sync'd (*=*=* Getting Started With NTP *=*=*), what else can "we" look at, monitor, try in order to assist you in solving this problem?

Thanks!

Anybody else seeing a "trend" here???

IVSmagic is tested and confirmed to run on Windows XP/2000 using the Microsoft Internet Explorer v6 Web Browser as a client for it's web based interface.

No testing has yet been done on Windows 95, 98, ME, or Windows NT.

No other web browsers (i.e. Mozilla) have been tested neither.

Who were the Windows 2000 ALPHA Testers???

Basically a send will not work anyway if IVSm cannot get the filesize of the remote MPG file, so I put in a "sanity check" to prevent the send from going out in this case.

Until somebody can give me more technical background into why the 0MB thing may be happening (besides the fact it just "happens"), there is not much more I can do until I can re-create the problem here to get to the bottom of it.

If the bomb goes off, you'll definitely know it. Basically, each new release pushes the time-bomb date further into the future, so as long as you are running the latest release, you are fine.

What kind of Php Function do you use to get the file size?

Right.

XP Pro, IVSmagic v0.9.1.1 Public Beta RELEASE

TakeTheActive wrote:

1 PC.

After turning "Protected Send Mode" back off, a regular send that I had deleted in IVSm from a Replay got caught as an "unregistered?" send. It had sent "405 Megs of 0 Megs." So it appears that it couldn't figure out that the show was not 0 Megs.

I'm using an SMC router on which the current firmware supports loopback.

I don' think this is time related. It looks like with a local-guide send, IVSm is reading a local file and determining the size = 0. I think IVSm then ignores the incoming chunk requests because it thinks the send is complete.

On my win 2k box, the send detail show size = 0. On my XP machine, local-guide sends work. I posted the same to the other thread (http://www.planetreplay.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=10585) Hopefully we can determine in that thread if the problem is with Win 2k.

eclectic's also on WinXP (Home) Source

If the rest of the folks would report in with the answers to Points 5 and 6, we might be onto something...

Man, what a d*ck!

It was a minor inconsistent bug that only a few people encountered, I don't see the big deal here. It *is* still in "beta".

Do you actually think I give a squirt it doesn't run on *your* computer? The answer is no, not anymore.

I have an idea, please don't use the software and please don't post here any more.

Don't let the cyberdoor hit you in a** on your way out.

HEY YOUNGSTER! You wanna start here? I've been offering to help you since *BEFORE* DAY ONE! You declined...

You want me to point to your (saved) QUOTES from AVS that "You don't need no help - You're past BETA - IVSm is ready to roll?"

Why bother?

IVSm wasn't "Ready for Prime Time", you over-estimated the results from your ALPHA Testers, and some of us still stuck with you to figure out the problems.

If you think "ONLY A FEW PEOPLE ENCOUNTERED..." the problem(s), wake up and smell the roses, kid. ONLY A FEW PEOPLE are willing to post (and expose themselves to ridicule, etc...) - countless other LURKERs are benefiting from my posts here. CHECK THE VIEWS on my "Testing NOW!" thread. Source - 469 in *THREE* DAYS!

It was no MINOR, INCONSISTENT BUG - As far as I see, it didn't work on Win2K - no big deal (still in BETA, let me look back at AVS). If you solved it tonight, GREAT! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

If I don't get to test it (this morning EDT), I'm sure that the West Coasters will surely give it a run.

Hairston wrote:

Do I care what you think? Not really.

I'm here to help out everyone else in the "but it doesn't work for me" boat...

I have a BETTER idea - take a CHILL PILL, admit that you were over-confident, and accept the THANKS that the Users (including me!) are extending to you for your efforts...

JOB WELL DONE!!! [Ease off on the beer...]

P.S. Nobody's a d*ick here - you're just a youngster...

Hey Craig,

I don't mind... [You're an admitted "Dolt", right? > > > Apparently I'm A Dolt. Setup Assistance Required... < < < ]

AFAICT, the majority of the Users here (and on MOST of the ReplayTV-related Forums) are "Youngsters". You see things in a different light - I was young, once...

Someday, when you get older, a light will come on in your mind and you'll say to yourself: "Gee whiz, I'm talking like my Dad!" and you'll be confused. But eventually, your entire view of things will change, and you'll wonder "Why did I ever..."

No big deal...

OK, it's *REALLY* late here on the East Coast. But, I *REALLY* wanted to see what this "Jayne" update did for us "boat people" (as I listen to "Jane" by Jefferson Starship).
  • I "skipped" from v0.9.1.0 to v0.9.1.3 (I usually like to go "in order", but it's too late, I'm pooped...)

  • An "IMPORT / EXPORT for Address Book Function" would *REALLY* help out here - as it stands, only *ONE* of four (previously good) ISNs were accepted by IVSm (Sorry Henry!), while *FOUR* of four were (still) successful at Lawrence's IVS Tester (?!?)

  • YESSIREE (Bob), Local_Guide SENDs no longer report as "Sent 0 MB of 0 MB (100%)" - this looks *REALLY* promising. Too bad, at 04:07 EDT, there seems to be NO ONE on either coast awake. Yep, I now see: "Sent 0 MB of 118 MB (0.0%)"
What was the "answer" that made this "improvement" for us Win2K folks?

[In anticipation of Henry's reporting a successful receive tomorrow (i.e. later today), THANKS BOB!]

I would have liked to test this "locally", but the previously successful "Loopback Test" now fails (loopback test failed! assuming it is configured correctly, it seems your router does not support ip loopback!), and plugging a local ISN into the SEND box results in: could not contact remote replay... show send failed!

Look, it's not just about me "chilling-out", I've received 3 other *concerns* about you so far.

Please do us all the favor of being civil about this and not posting here anymore. Let's not make this a circus.

Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.
