The new WiRNS Wiki is now available, at wiki.wirns.com

Not all topics have been addressed yet, but the framework is there.

Not all topics (Installation) apply to the current version of WiRNS.

I hope to continue updating it as we progress and encourage you to feel free to do so as well.

Problems or questions, let me know.

I'm not sure if this is the best forum, but I wanted to pass on a useful experience.

I have digital cable at home with a decoder box, but my ReplayTV is hooked up directly to the incoming coax cable so it only gets the analog channels.

When I subscribed to Schedules Direct I only requested the listings database for the digital cable channels. Then I configured WiRNS and was rather confused that the available cable providers were the same as before, not including any with a WiRNS prefix.

It took several hours before I figured out that I needed to subscribe to the analog cable in my area also on Schedules Direct and select that choice on ReplayTV as the analog R-F input services provider.

In hindsight it's obvious, but it would have been nice if this was mentioned in the installation instructions.

Just an FYI. The current version of the Wiki page for Configuration: WiRNS (http://207.58.129.220/index.php/Configuration:WiRNS) is out of date. The current Wiki page still has reference to the "Unix Time Zone (optional)" and "ReplayTV gets User Time Zone". The current Configuration: WiRNS screen has "Time Zone" with a dropdown box and "Time Zone String". The instructions for the Wiki page below that are therefore also wrong.

If I can work out how to post a screenshot I'll add it.

Yes, I had mentioned that when the Wiki was first announced (even before WiRNS 3.0 was released), since I figured that timezone would not be optional anymore.

Since the timezone change was in the latest update, it did not make it to the Wiki. The developers should probably update the Wiki when they make changes instead of (or in addition to) posting about the change in the forum.
Or maybe someone could volunteer to update it any time a new release is posted.

Here is my first contribution to the wiki, a page describing how to setup your router. Please review and give me any feedback or suggestions

http://wiki.wirns.com/index.php/Installation:Router

I have also copied all the IVS info that I could find here:

If you set DHCP reservations (as you did, a good idea), you do not need to set the WiRNS PC to static. You do need to set the Replays to static, but only so you can change DNS.

Set up DHCP reservations, then have the Replays acquire an IP. That sets the default when you switch to manual, so you only need to enter the new DNS.

I just set up a friend with a ReplayTV and WiRNS and figure I can update the Wiki with some of the basics that are missing since he is a complete beginner.

Thanks,
Don
