|
|
Hi!
Playing shows from WiRNS isn't working:
Using Windows XP, Mozilla Firefox, version 3.5.7:
Router: Linksys WRT54GS, set up for Static IPs.
I have VLC version 1.0.5 installed. I selected the Firefox plugin during installation.
AVG scans the show prior to streaming, using mucho CPU cycles.
I can play shows from the two physical RTV 5040s from any of the three sources with no problems.
Note: IVS test fails on WiRNS and one of the RTVs, and works on one physical unit.
WiRNS Show Streaming Configuration:
Allow Streaming from ReplayGuide: check.
Use VLC for Show Streaming: check.
Network Protocol: MMSH
Port: 1234
Multiplexer: MOV
Video Codec: DivX3
Video Bitrate(kb/s): 64
Video Scaling: .25
Audio Codec: MP3
Audio Bitrate(kb/s): 32
Audio Channels: 1
Click on show in guide (e.g. local show).
Click on drop down box and select Play.
Click on link to play.
VLC starts.
Dialog box pops up: "VLC media player has already been installed. Do you want to remove the previous version before installing media player 1.0.5?"
Regardless of whether you say Yes or No, it proceeds to re-install VLC. Even if you go through with that, the show still doesn't run.
Using another media player (say, the browser using QuickTime) results in a big Q watermark with a big question mark in the center of the window.
Variation on a Theme:
Using Internet Explorer 7, Windows Media Player starts up.
Displays error message:
"Windows Media Player cannot play the file because a network error occurred. The server might not be available. Verify that you are connected to the network and that your proxy settings are correct.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

I never could figure it out. As far as I know, nobody else has either. Of course, I'm far from being an expert!
I do know that I just installed 2.1 on my new laptop, and it doesn't work here either. |
