Last summer I picked up a 5040 to add to my Showstopper/WiRNS environment.

WiRNS is great for multiple Replaytvs as you can list them all side by side, see what's recorded where, choose where to record something new, etc.

>>>> Update <<<< Per Henry's comments below, my issues had nothing to due with the MyReplaytv, and things are working better.

- stuff deleted

First of all, how about posting what problem you are having? I have at least 4 RTVs with MyReplayTV disabled, and it doesn't cause a problem for any of them. Since WiRNS doesn't use the MyReplayTV interface for network-connected 5Ks, it shouldn't matter at all whether it's enabled or not. And, even if it's not enabled, when WiRNS wants to use the MyReplayTV interface, it commands the RTV to do what it wants for that net connect anyways. I have tested with my MyReplayTV disabled units to see that everything still works properly in this case...

As far as enabling MyReplayTV, if you run WiRNS3, then you would simply configure "regedit setval SysConfig/Auth RegisteredMyReplayTV 1" in your authcmds file (which is already configured in the authcmds.example file), and that will enable MyReplayTV on the unit. However, it won't make any difference to WiRNS if it is a network-connected 5K, it will still log "skipping"...

Here's a network-connected 5K with MyReplayTV disabled:

Code:
[3/09/2012 03:06:25] [PLUGIN] XactProvider skipping GetXact for: 1.2.3.4
[3/09/2012 03:06:26] [PLUGIN] GetNextCall initialized.

Here's a network-connected 5K with MyReplayTV enabled:

Code:
[3/09/2012 03:14:27] [PLUGIN] XactProvider skipping GetXact for: 1.2.3.5
[3/09/2012 03:14:36] [PLUGIN] XactProvider skipping PutXact for: 1.2.3.5
[3/09/2012 03:14:37] [PLUGIN] GetNextCall initialized.

And, here's a remote-connected 4K being commanded to use the MyReplayTV interface anyways:

Code:
[3/09/2012 04:21:38] [PLUGIN] XactProvider requesting ReplayGuide for: 1.2.3.6
[3/09/2012 04:21:39] [PLUGIN] XactProvider refreshing RecordingGuide, 15 of 37GB available for: 1.2.3.6
[3/09/2012 04:21:40] [PLUGIN] GetNextCall initialized.

Henry

P.S. I would just like to comment that your post on AVSForum about your trying dial up through FREESCO on your 5K isn't a good indicator of dial up working properly on a 5K unit. As I posted here, my ShowStopper is also working just fine via dial up when I have it go through FREESCO. So, if you really wanted to test the 5K dial up working better, then you'd really have to allow your 5K to use a phone line to "phone home" versus using the FREESCO connection. Maybe I misunderstood your post on AVSForum, but in case I didn't, then using FREESCO doesn't prove out that dial up is work any better. The problem with the dial up units appears to have something to do with the dial-up providers themselves, and in your case, you are using FREESCO as the dial-up provider...

Whoa, Henry, sorry about my assumption that Myreplaytv had to be enabled. Just my (faulty) recollection of long ago information and seeing the "skipping GetXacts" in the log.

As for the dial information on AVS, maybe I didn't make myself clear.

I tested normal dial (to ATT Global) with the 5040 and it worked fine. No 8 minute delay after connection established.

I bet if you had your R3xxx dial a primary number, you'd see the 8 minute delay after connection established, but see a fast dial session from a 5040.

I was just pointing out the dial to FREESCO behavior - how it differs from a showstopper-freesco dial, as possibly indicating why my 5040 does a dial connect (to ReplayTV's primary ISP), and my showstopper/3xxx's have "normal dial problems".

So, what is the problem you are having that you think you need a solution for WiRNS?

And, by the way, when WiRNS first came out, it was only for networked RTVs and never cared about having MyReplayTV enabled. It was only when I added support for the older, dial-up only units that this thing about MyReplayTV came up, so maybe you are looking at this a bit backwards. And, WiRNS uses the same web commands as DVArchive. I'm not sure which one of the two applications are older, but this is the way that network-connected applications work with the networked RTVs...

Ah, yes, that is much clearer! You didn't mention in your AVSForum post that you actually used a phone line, you only mentioned about using FREESCO, which implies your not using a phone line to connect to the dial-up providers...

Yeah, I'm sure if I tried using dial up with my 3K that I'd have problems. But, I was also pointing out how the problem is more likely with the dial-up providers since my bypassing them makes the net connect go smoothly...

Oh, and by the way, the 5Ks don't have any hard-coded IP addresses in them, but they do sequence the net connect differently than non-5K units. 4K units and pre-4K units seems to sequence the net connet similarly, so a 4K on dial up might have a similar problem to these older dial-up only units...

Wow, now that you've educated me on the 5k "net connect irrelevance", I've gotten things working by clearing out all shows/scheduled recordings in my 5k, adding a few locally scheduled, then viewing them with the WiRNS Refresh button. I can even schedule new shows.

Before I couldn't get do any of that, and would get errors like

[3/8/2012 14:19:06] HTTPClient WebException: HTTP error connecting to 192.168.3.111
NotFound

I can't test a populated replaytv guide as the unit isn't currently hooked up to record.

As for no raw IP's being stored in the 5040, I'd ask you to do a test. Have a 5k unit dial into your freesco (which is pointing to your WiRNS box). What happened with me, no matter how many times I rebooted my 5040, it would never contact my WiRNS but directly contact the ReplayTV servers. The only way I can understand that is if my 5040 bypasses the DNS pointed to by my freesco.

See, you can see that WiRNS IS using the web commands to the RTV!

From that one error, it sounds like an IP address or routing problem. You could search what can generate a "NotFound" error as that is a strange one to me!

And, by the way, WiRNS being as old as it is, I think your first post was a bit overboard thinking that all these years no one could use WiRNS if they didn't have MyReplayTV enabled. I think you should edit your original post and take out the warning about only buying units with MyReplayTV enabled...

I've run into this, and it may be that you have FREESCO DNS caching. How did you change back and forth between using DNNA and WiRNS? I promise you that there are no IP's being stored in the 5K. That would certainly make it very difficult for ReplayTV to change anything about their ISP!
