I have Use web proxy checked and it is pointing at WiRNS ip address and port 80. I also have DVA running on that box under a different ip address. Also changed my provider to my WiRNS lineup.

Below is the Log:

What does your WiRNS log show when DVA is trying to download the TV guide?

The odd thing I see is the DVA is bound to 192.168.1.10 but it looks like it is try to serve 192.168.1.11?

Well, it certainly looks like SOMETHING is working!

You probably need to straighten out your IP settings and such. I also have to wonder why WiRNS is trying to query the IP address that you say is DVArchive. If all you want is for DVArchive to be able to get guide data from WiRNS, there'd be no reason to have it configured in WiRNS...

I keep seeing this error in DVA -- this has been on two different boxes. I cut down the number of channels on SD and I tried to only load 2 days. I still get nothing. Any ideas how to get DVA to pull correctly from WiRNS?

The information is posted both here and on DVArchive.org. I just looked it up on this site a few days ago and posted a link to it, but you'll have to look it up for yourself this time, or it's pretty near the top on DVArchive.org...

My situation is different than yours (I've not yet tried to get WiRNS to serve the SD guide to DVA yet), but since getting WiRNS up & running last night, I've started seeing the same message when I start DVA:

Have you had any luck figuring out what the error means? I haven't a clue but have read myself in circles

Henry -- I did see that thread and followed the steps but still have not had any luck getting DVA to populate with the WiRNS data. I have tried with two different boxes to point to the WiRND IP address. I have had the firewalls down and have tried port 80, 8080 and 8888.

Is there something in the WiRNS settings that I have to check or uncheck? Or do I have to do something with the TCP/IP settings or the configuration of the Ethernet Controller? Change a setting/port forward in the router? Some networking service I have to turn on? I have to be missing something simple.

Nope, if WiRNS is servicing your network (like that your Replays can see it and DVA can see it), then there's nothing else to do. Can any of your RTVs download guide data from WiRNS? If so, then DVA should be able to do it just as easily...

Are you running both WiRNS and DVA on the same PC? If so, they need to have different IP addresses...

Henry -- DVA should be able to do it easily, but as you can it is not working easily. I have not tried to have DVA on the same box as WiRNS get the guide data. I have used two different boxes running DVA try to get the guide from the WiRNS box (both with DVA and WiRNS running and jusr WiRNS running)

What is this error about?

ERROR: THREAD_0:: EXCEPTION: For input string: "<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" >

I have been able to get the RPTV 5xxx to get the guide from WiRNS but unable to get any instance of DVA to connect and pull the guide data. Again there has to be something simple I am missing -- a check on or check off in WiRNS or DVA? Or could it be some networking setting or router port issue? Firewalls are down on the boxes (both WiRNS and DVA) that are trying to connect.

From some of the previous threads it looks like it should use port 80 for the IP address assigned to WiRNS and it should not need a secondary port number to function.

I am trying everything I have read but running into a wall at every try so far. Is has not proved to be easy for me. When I get home I will pull the log for DVA and WiRNS and post to see if anybody can figure this out. Thanks in advance for reading and hope someone can point me in the right direction.

I understand that it can be frustrating when something that should be easy just isn't working out! But, if you are using separate computers for WiRNS and DVArchive, the there shouldn't be anything special that you need to do, and it should work just as well as your RTV downloading guide data...

I think if you search on that error, I think that's just DVA getting what it hopes is Replay information from WiRNS and WiRNS is serving a regular page sometimes. I don't think it should hurt anything, especially if you're not trying to network between DVArchive and WiRNS. In fact, if you're not trying to network between WiRNS and your ReplayTV(s), you can turn off the UPNP Server option in the WiRNS configuration and then DVArchive won't see WiRNS and won't be attempting to connect to it (except for the guide data that you've manually configured)...

The RTV uses exactly the same mechanism that you see exposed in DVArchive (or, I guess I should say that DVArchive uses the same mechanism as the RTV). It connects to the WiRNS IP address on port 80 and requests the guide data. If you configure DVA to do exactly the same thing, then it should work the same...

Yes, the guide data should always be served on port 80 unless there is some kind of networking restriction (which you shouldn't have)...

Yeah, I've reread your previous DVA and WiRNS logs, and I can certainly see that there's problems, but it's not clear what. DVA shows that it is communicating with WiRNS and WiRNS shows that DVA is communicating with it. But, clearly neither one of them show that the communication is completeing successfully...

Firewall down on both boxes -- any help on what needs to be adjusted to get the guide data flowing into DVA would be greatly appreciated. It looks like they are talking but something is still not right.
