Thanks, Henry.

I converted the router to static IPs. Reconfigured both physical 5040s and all three rtv's are sharing their guide info. Streaming shows from any to any works great. Guide updates go smoothly. Updates to Poopli are working fine.

A couple of problems remain:

IVS test succeeds on Lindas, fails on Bills and WiRNS. I've rechecked my port forwarding settings numerous times on the router. This problem has been around for awhile. The Wirns IVS test passed a couple of days ago.

Playing shows from WiRNS isn't working. See new thread.

Log follows.

Thanks.

Bill

Did you make sure to turn off the DHCP server in your router?

The only unit not passing the IVS test this moment is Bills. WiRNS is passing the IVS test at this moment...

So, do you have your router setup with a port forward of port 1024 to IP address 192.168.1.101?

Everything looks like it is OK as far as publishing your ISNs, so that part appears to be working correctly. Either there is a problem with that one port forward or Bills has changed IP addresses by requesting a new one from the DHCP server...

As far as streaming shows from WiRNS, I really don't do that. Ryan is the expert on that, so if he doesn't reply, you may have to send him a PM. Have you checked out this thread?

Yes, DHCP Server:Disable.
Internet Connection Type DHCP.

Great!

Yes. However, I read somewhere that a port number *higher* than 1024 is necessary. Should I raise it up?

I set up both RTVs using the same click stream.

Maybe I'll just change that port number and see what happens.

Thanks again, Henry.

Amazing! Just changed the port number to 1026 and got a successful IVS test!

That's confirmed. I changed the port back to 1024 and IVS test failed. Changed it to 1027 and the test passed!

I guess whoever wrote that post knew what he was talking about!

Port number must be *greater than* 1024.

Why it worked all these years is beyond me. Or, better phrased, why it suddenly stopped working...

The coincidence in time was the WiRNS installation. Hmmm. I just can't remember when the IVS stopped working exactly, however.

This all has to do with the changes in port number ranges. Ports greater than 1024 (through 4096) are for services which can be user defined. Of course, you have WiRNS using port 29013, so that is in an entirely different range. The WiRNS IVS port number should follow the same rules as any other port number, so if you like using 102x, you probably should use that for WiRNS as well...

I'm not sure what your router should have cared, which where I'm assuming your are reading this "greater than 1024" thing. You are certainly allowed to port forward lower port number, like port 80, for example...

Anyway, the RTV User's Guide recommends high port numbers, like 29000. Basically, it just needs to not conflict with any other registered port number. Like, if you had no web servers running, then it would be fine to use port 80 for IVS (except that the RTV won't accept it). High port numbers are typically used for outgoing services, so that's why they are typically safe for usage for incoming services...

Makes total sense. It bothered me to even look at it. Kinda like a crooked picture on the wall. (read: OCD).

I assume I read it here: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=3527357#post3527357

I see. (I think.)

Still going strong with no error messages! Going for a new record: 12 hours!

Now, I'm going to push the edges of the envelope with sharing to and from WiRNS.

Thank you very much, Henry.
