I keep getting an unhandled exception error when trying to run reVue 1.1a3 (although labeled 1.1a3, the program calls itself 1.1 alpha 5). Each time I try to open file, the exception error comes up. I just installed reVue today and the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 yesterday.

Any help would be appreciated.

I got reVue to run, but when I open a DVArchive-transferred show, I get the WMP audio, but no video! I actually get the silly WMP9 video effects showing what the sound looks like in the reVue window, but no video!

Thanks,

It sounds like you are missing the proper MPEG decoder. Out of the box, Windows does not know how to decode the video in the ReplayTV MPEG files. The good news is that any software DVD player will give you the right codec.

Take a look at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/windowsxp/buypacks.aspx for more information. The cost is $15 for DVD decoding or $20 for both DVD decoding and MP3 encoding.

P.S. It is 1.1a5 -- the shortcut is misnamed by the installer.

I installed ATi MMC DVD Player 7.5 (didn't work) and upgraded to 7.6 and voila!

I will update to 9.0 as soon as I burn a coupe of shows. This is an excellent program!

Thanks,

I get the "unhandled exception error" every time on a new PC. It works on my old PC. Both run WinXP SP1.
When I start the CLR debugger, I get a dialog box with some additional info:

"An unhandled exception of type 'System.IO.FileNotFoundException'
occurred in Unknown Module.
Additional information: File or assembly name System.Windows.Forms, or one of its dependencies, was not found."

Doesn't sound to me that it has anything to do with the version of the MPEG-2 decoder, but I could be wrong...

If you try to continue past the error, does reVue work? Some folks have reported getting start-up errors, but that reVue then works if you choose to continue. I haven't tried to fix that yet, but this might help you work around the problem.

I've never been able to get reVue working on my laptop. I get unhandled exception.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this
application or machine (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine
rather than being handled by this dialog.

I continue past it & I get the reVue window. 'Prerelase 1.1 a5 with DVA 3'
It seems to have the data from the show regarding commericals & content, and it displays the show title on a tool tip when I attempt to prod into playing. But it will not play. Quick skips etc... result in another unhandled exception dialog box.

1) it's not a codec issue as this laptop plays them fine through either powerDVD, Windows media player, or Womble mpegvcr or Womble Video Wizard, or Ulead Video Studio 6, or Winamp.
2) WinXP Home
3) .NET 1.1
4) DVA 3

I've several desktop pcs around the place that utilize DVA 3 & reVue with no problems. They are XP Pro.

Add me to the list of filks that can't get ReVue started. Unhandled exception error, I can click continue, but nothing happens. DVA 3.0 is working perfectly. My only question is on .NET framework. Not sure that I have that. I haven't installed it, I know that much. But this is a WinXP Pro box if that matters.

Thanks!

I had the same problem as y'all; But I found the fix, at least for my PC. I'm running an PC using a ghetto Fry's deal; Athlon XP2600 on ECS K7VAT3 MB, WinXP Pro.

ReVue started to run fine after I'd installed all the Critical Updates, and all Multimedia related updates. I think what did the trick was installing Windows Media Player 9, which probably had some codec I was missing.

Good luck, hope this fixes!

Hmm .... I get the following unhandled exception error when I try to open a video.

Below are the details. Can anyone help with this?

PostPosted: Sat Jan 03, 2009 3:35 pm    Post subject: Possible bad WMP-11 install caused my unhandled exception er Reply with quote

Revue worked great on 3 of my 4 PCs.

I spent days trying to get it to work on the 4th (it used to work fine months ago). I tried reinstalling .net. Then I checked to make sure the registry permissions were set properly (search "subinacl" to see how registry permission settings are source of many strange installation problems).

What ultimately worked was removing WMP-11. Removing it rolls it back to WMP-10. Once I did that, Revue loaded and ran as good as it ever did (which has always been very good for me).

I then reinstalled the WMP-11 update and Review continued to work. I can only assume that some element of WMP-11 was somehow corrupted.

I still use revue all the time for watching ReplayTV shows while on airplanes and also for editing portions of shows I want to archive (usually music performances). It is still great tool even in 2009!
