|
|
So I have been a long time ReplayTV user... older 2xxx model, rigged into my tv and DISH.
All worked fine until about 2-3 months ago, maybe about the time the stock changed hands?
Since then, I have recordings scheduled. The basic network recordings record just fine. But anything on DISH initially goes to the requested channel, then 1-2 secs bumps to channel 84 HSN (Home Shopping Network.)
I have never paid for a subscription so I wondered if I am now required to have a paid subscription to use the unit beyond netowrk channels.
Anyone else have this problem? The DISH works just fine, if i am watching through the sat/tv only no problem, but I cannot record.
Any thoughts or help appreciated. I dread trying to connect with a real person at ReplayTV support...

Nope. RTV-2k's & 3k's were designed before the concept of subscriptions were added to the businuess model. Effectively, they all have "Lifetime Subscriptions".

What happens when you use the RTV to manually tune to one of the DISH channels as if you were going to watch it "live"? Does it stay on the channel or does also it bounce to 84?
Regardless, I would also check your Dish reciever IR settings in the RTV setup menu as your Dish controller might have recieved a firmware update that changed the IR codes slightly.
Have you verified that nothing has changed in one of the configuration menus on the dish reciever? _________________ Still no news from New Zealand.

Oh, maybe the problem is that it needs an "enter" key after the channel change, so it is going back to 84 because that was the last channel being viewed? Does it always jump to channel 84 or is it the previous viewed channel?

I did a bit of troubleshooting and changed the IR blaster code. In doing so, I also discovered that the IR cable was not secured against the DISH receiver and Voila!
I can change channel without any bounce now, and will test against my recordings in the next few days. I am saddened that I missed the most recent episode of Wire in the Blood.
Thanks all,
Boop
ps I do NOT watch Home Shopping Network, for the record! |
