Hi all,

I posted this over at AVSForum, but wanted to pass the info along here as well.
------------
Rtv5ktools Processing Assistant Utility (RTVConvert Admin)

What is it?
A windows application that helps ReplayTV 5xxx (4xxx?) users who use Dvarchive and a video editor (to remove commercials) and wish to reimport the files into DVArchive.

What does it do?
After the user has edited their mpeg(s) with a video editor (Womble, VideoRedoPlus, etc.), the following workflow is assisted/automated:

1. rtvconvert these videos
2. delete the unedited/pre-rtvconvtered videos
3. move the rtvconverted mpeg (also .ndx & .evt) files to another directory for import into DVArchive
4. Rename the original .xml file to match the rtvconverted mpeg file name

Why?
I follow the above stated workflow with Womble when removing commercials and found the process tedious. A batch file could be made, but I also wanted the challenge of making a configurable, gui application that other ReplayTV users could possibly use. evtEdit probably does alot of the above, but maybe it has too many other features not needed for the above workflow. It also requires .NET framework, while this application does not. This utility will also run multiple rtvconvert instances to process multiple videos at a time.

The application is currently being developed and is probably about halfway done for a first release. I just wanted to post here and see if anyone had any interest, thoughts or comments about the idea.
Cheers,
John

I think it would be cool to see you wrap this shell around one of the "free" MPG editing tools, making it a total package (extract the show from a Replay, edit it, put it back on a Replay).

nded,

Thanks for the suggestion. It's a pretty good idea, but I think the closest I could come to this is make a "launcher" application. That is, run the launcher, and it starts both the mpeg editor and the process assistant. Which, in the end, probably wouldn't be too much of a time saver.

I'm going to move this topic to the RTVTools forum as that's prolly a better place for it...
