The Dreamix is a linux based DVR that allows you to do replaytv stuff without a subscription fee. It also works as an entertainment hub, in which you can manage your video game output, vcr output, cable output, etc all into one unit.
see more info here: http://www.dreamix.tv/demo.php

The Panasonic DMR has a 120GB harddrive and the ability to record shows on DVD-R and on the HD. It als has TV Guide Data sent to the unit automatically (thru cable signal), meaning no subsription fees.

So now my decision is do I get a ReplayTV, wait and get a Dreamix, or get the Panasonic. Decisions Decisions.

Ugh! The Panasonic seems to have one of those terrible Gemstar guides - it's free because half the screen space is taken up with ads... and it only shows an hour of program space. Replay shows 90 minutes at a time, which allows you to see at least what's at the top of the next hour.

The Dreamix site doesn't show me much of anything. None of their "more" links work, and they've embedded a Windows Media player object into the front page, which is terribly unfriendly, especially for a device that appeals to linux geeks.
