I just got back my replacement for an RMA'd 5060 and still had problems cconnecting it to my network, so i called tech support and they said that a new software build was released a couple of weeks ago? Anyone know about this? He said it was build 110?

It mostly fixes modem problems.

bruin76, what exactly is the problem connecting it to your network? I have a new 5060 and I am having problems as well. I cannot get my unit to accept new software. It freezes every day when trying to accept the new software during the daily automatic update.

Tell me about your problem, maybe I can help -- I must have read every single problem here and in the avsforum, and still nothing has helped.

Try rebooting your router, changing your ethernet cable, factory reset the 5060 -- those three are favorite tips by people.

Hey funbox, well when it tries to connect to the all i get is a count down box then it asks for me to manual enter the all network info, and still no go, this happened with my first box and i was on the phone with support for hours untill they finally RMA'd it. This one when I first got everything hooked up it saw my network but couldn't connect to the replay servers. so i unplugged everything and plugged it all back in now i seem to be back where i started with the first one. I'm using a linksys router(one that they recommend). I've tried to connect directly to my cable modem. Maybe I'll try the factory reset. Thank for any help.

Are you using dynamic or static IP for Replay networking? Dynamic is recommended. Do you have a software/firmware firewall on the Linksys that is blocking the Replay from seeing the mothership? (I have a BESFR41, a BESFX41 is the same router with built-in firewall support) Try rebooting your cable/dsl modem, the router, then the replay. Check your cable -- is it a true Cat5 cable, or is it a crossover? Crossover cable is a no-no. If you attempt a factory reset, be sure to set it up with no photo partition or myreplaytv.com account.

I'm using dynamic ip, my router is befw11s4 v.2, I know my cat5 is correct(not a crossover cable) because i tested it with another computer on the network. I did do a factory reset and it didn't seem to help, but i did set space for the photo veiwer so i'll try that again and I'm ready to get on the horn again w/tech support(hopefully tier 2). I don't know if my router has built in firewall( i turned off my software one) I checked the website and did a firmware upgrade on it and that didn't seem to help. I read your post about shutting of the dhcp, do you think i should give that a try?

hmm, you have a wireless router? I don't have any experience with those, but I do know that they definitely work with the Replay. Since you tried to connect straight up to your modem, and that failed, I would suggest trying a phone connection first, and see if that works. If it does, download the software updates, then switch back to ethernet and see what happens using a forced net connect (to make sure you establish a connection).

I am connecting it through one of ports on the router( its a 4 port wireless router) and I did connect it through the modem( and got all the updates and channels), i'm actually on the phone with tech support right now( they don't seem to be helping). we're tryng the forced net connect but since it can't see the network it isn't keeping the settings for the ethernet, so when i do a forced net connect it tries to dial the modem, by the way thanks for your responses and all your help, you've been more helpful than tech support.

Here is what's listed for your problem at the replaytv website:

http://www.digitalnetworksna.com/support/replaytv/5000troubleshootingfaq.asp#q2

The ReplayTV 5000 can't connect or stay connected to the ReplayTV servers.

1. If you have already connected once, try manually connecting.

a. Exit all menus and press 243 + ěReplay Zonesî on your remote.

b. Choose ěNet Connectî

2. Check your settings and configuration.

3. Try using different DNS servers (See list of public DNS servers)

a. If the IP address †on the ReplayTV 5000 is specified, change the DNS on the ReplayTV 5000.

b. If the IP address on the ReplayTV 5000 is obtained automatically, change the DNS that your router (DHCP †server) is serving.

4. If the IP address is being obtained automatically, try manually specifying it.

5. Check your cabling.

6. Check your network hardware.
